This fall, one $2000 scholarship will be publicized and awarded. The applicant pool shall be restricted to full-time African American and Latino students, as permissible by law, in the field of physics, chemistry, biology, or pre-medicine with an academically competitive cumulative GPA. Applicants will secure application packages from 706 University Union (Harvey & Lucinda Gantt Center for Student Life), or by clicking the link above, and return completed packages, including transcript or grades summary by November 8, 2013. The Scholarship Board will critique the applications and select a recipient; the scholarship will be presented on or before December 6, 2013. The funds will be paid to the university on behalf of the student, and shall not be restricted in use.
Applicants will be graded on the essay, GPA (sealed transcript required) and letters of recommendation. The essay (at least 250 words) must explain why you should receive this scholarship. Please include within your essay your field of study, any academic achievements, extra-curricular activities, community service, your financial need and/or any other pertinent information which you would like us to consider in reviewing your application. The two letters of recommendation must be from persons other than family members.
